Your First Treatment

Your first visit with Laurie will last one hour. During that time, she will ask you questions about your medical history, lifestyle, and all the systems in your body. She will take your pulse at both wrists, and visually examine your tongue. Upon making her diagnosis, she'll then insert acupuncture needles into specific points in the body along channels/meridians to access your body's energy and allow it to flow more freely.

Acupuncture needles are the size of a human hair or smaller. They're sterile, and are used once and discarded. Most of the time you won't feel them at all, or only experience a slight pinch. Many people find acupuncture treatments quite relaxing - you might even find yourself drifting off to sleep.

A usual course of treatment consists of one session a week for six to ten weeks. Follow-up treatments usually last one hour. The number and length of treatments will vary, depending on your needs.
